The Workflow Administrator

We got loads of help to train for this job. It is a complex job and something that is necessary. The training guarantees the safety of our patients."

- Emily Manthorpe, Workflow Administrator

The Workflow Administrator can manage up to 80% of the clinical correspondence through to completion for the Practice. It is a detailed and skilled process that the Workflow training takes them through with the support of their GP Lead. We have created a short video, so that you can listen to these Workflow Administrators explain why they enjoy their roles and feel value to the contribution they make to the Practice, by saving GP time:

Mandy Bensen, Workflow Administrator

“An example of a letter that we receive would be from another department regarding the results of a patient’s eye screening test for diabetes. We are trained to see what is coded, what is actionable by us and what a GP needs to see.

Emily Manthorpe, Workflow Administrator

“I read clinical letters and code them if necessary, and decide whether or not the GP needs to see them. The main benefit of my role is that I save GPs a lot of admin time. We often receive letters when a patient hasn’t attended a hospital appointment. Does a GP really need to see that letter?

“I am able to view a patient’s journey through their letters. It helps you understand what they’re going through. And also that helps you to pick up things you wouldn’t usually.”

Sharon Joseph, Clinical Coder and Administrator

“We got great feedback from the GPs saying how helpful it was to them. It has been a real success story. We actually feel that we’re more valued, more part of the team. We feel proud when we code and take this role very seriously. It has made our job more interesting.”
